Day 1 : Cochin
After reaching Cochin, one of our GITC executives will meet you at the Airport followed by transfer from Airport to Hotel. By evening 17.30hrs, watch the famous dance drama of Kerala known as the “Kathakali”. This is a traditional form of dance in Kerala which can be characterized by grotesque gesticulations, amazing costumes and very extensive make-up. The stories of the epics such as Mahabharatha and Ramayana are enacted in Kathakali. Spend evening alongside the Chinese fishing area which is very lively with the daily fish market that is situated here. The fishes that are caught comes from time to time to sale. If you are a person fond of fish, then a fresh fish could be bought from here and the nearby restaurant will cook the same for you upon your request. Return to the hotel later in the day for an overnight stay in Cochin.
Day 2 : Cochin
Upon completion of breakfast early morning, leave for the sight seeing tour of Cochin by 8am visiting - ‘The Jewish Synagogue’ at the heart of what is locally called the Jew Town, ‘The St. Francis Church’, the oldest European Church in India, ‘The Santa Cruz Basilica’ originally built in 1557 by the Portuguese, The Dutch Palace and Spice market at the narrow streets. Enjoy the lunch at a nice hotel in the old town. Return to hotel later in the evening and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay would be arranged at a hotel in Cochin.
Day 3 : Cochin – Munnar
Check out from the hotel at 07.30am after morning breakfast and drive towards Munnar which can be considered as a nature lovers paradise. Check-in to the hotel upon arrival and have lunch by 02.00pm before proceeding for the sight seeing tour of Munnar where one could visiting Rajamala hills which is home to endangered species of goat named Nilgiri Thar, Anamudi which is one of the tallest peaks in South India, Mattupetty Dam, The echo point - A Place with natural echo Phenomenon and Kundale where one could enjoy boating facility in shikara type of boats . Return to the hotel later in the day and the evening could be spent at leisure. Proceed with the overnight stay at a hotel in Munnar.
Day 4 : Munnar – Periyar
After completing the breakfast at 09.00am, checkout from the hotel and drive to Periyar which is also known as Thekkady. A wild life reserve is a perfect place to track down wild life such as Elephants, Bison, Deer and numerous other varieties of birds. One can enjoy the tropical landscape here and you could enjoy the tea, coffee & other spices plantations that surrounds this place. Check-in to the hotel upon arrival and at 14.00hrs leave for a guided plantation tour to the nearby garden where in various species of spices and other aromatic plants are cultivated. The guide explains & clarifies your doubts on this tour. Depending on the day’s opportunity, you will get the opportunity to visit a tea factory nearby. Overnight stay at a hotel in Thekkady.
Day 05 : Periyar
Leave for a Guided Jungle walk by early morning 6am towards the Periyar tiger reserve / national park. The walk will approximately take 3 hours and is very interesting giving you a chance to see the wildlife life at a very close distance. For those who are lucky enough, the rarely sighted leopards & tigers could be spotted. Return to the hotel and take some rest. At 15.30hrs, continue the journey towards the most popular boat trip at the National Park which is the best way to observe wildlife closely. One could see many animals including herds of elephants, bison’s and packs of wild boars that roams freely through the woods and parade along the shores of the lake just before sunrise and sunset. Different species of apes could be also seen here. The golden langur monkey that lives here is rarely seen in the rest of India. Other animals in Periyar are otters and porcupines. Water turtles can often be seen sunning themselves on the pieces of wood that stick out of the water. Osprey and Cormorants belong to the most important species of birds in this area. Return to the hotel in Thekkady for an overnight stay.
Day 6 : Periyar - Kumarakom
Enjoy the morning breakfast at 08.00am. Checkout from the hotel and drive down hill through the winding roads with stunning views to Kumarakom which is a rich green, sleepy little village on the Vembanad Lake. This beautiful village offers boating, fishing and sight seeing experiences that could be considered as truly exhilarating. Check-in to the hotel upon arrival and rest of the day could be spent at leisure. Proceed with the overnight stay at a hotel in Kumarakom.
Day 7 : Kumarakom – Alleppey
Check out from the hotel by morning 10.30am and proceed towards the next destination of Alleppey which is commonly known as the land of Backwaters. After reaching Alleppey, you will be accompanied to a private House boat that is waiting for you to take on a tour through the backwaters, a splendid area full of canals, lakes and coves. You can sunbathe on the deck or observe the landscape from the protection of the cabin. The population’s whole life takes place here on the water. The people sail, fish, swim and bath here. They do their washing and their washing up. They are so adapted to the water that you can see people talking for an hour, while they are up to their necks in water. Peddlers take care of the supplies and the public transport goes on the water. Countless water birds wait for their chance to catch a fish. The trip goes through a wonderful area full of palm trees, rice fields and floating water plants that surround the boat like emerald Green Island. Overnight stay within the Houseboat.
Day 8 : Alleppey - Kovalam
Disembark from Houseboat at 10.00am and continue the journey towards the next destination of Kovalam beach which is a beach rich with palm trees. The journey through the tropical landscape of Kerala provides a good idea of people living in here. Kovalam beach is also one of the most beautiful seaside resorts in India. Upon arrival at Kovalam, check in to hotel and then spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay would be arranged at a hotel in Kovalam.
Day 9 : Kovalam
The entire day could be spent for leisure in Kovalam. Overnight stay would be arranged at a Hotel in Kovalam.
Day 10 : Kovalam (Depart)
Check out from hotel according to flight timing and the tour ends today with a departure transfer to Trivandrum Airport for journey towards your onward destination.
